Classes

There are currently 5 different classes available to choose from. Each has been designed with different students in mind. The result of which is that those of all different ages, fitness level and motivations can find something that appeals to their own unique needs.

"Training For Life"

Kung Fu

A comprehensive and balanced system that progresses through all aspects of training - strikes, throws, grappling, chokes, locks and holds. Forms and weapons training are also an integral part of the system, and help students learn the underlying principles of Tai Chi Kung Fu, and how best to apply them in different situations.

Little Dragons and Dragons are classes designed with the younger student in mind. As well as having some fun during classes (by way of various physical activities and games), it also actively teaches them the rewards which come from work and discipline.

Kung Fu / Combat Do

This is an energetic class - it involves extensive partner work in order to develop superior stand-up & ground fighting skills. Free sparring focuses on stand-up fighting (footwork, sweeps & striking), while time spent on the mat hones your close-range fighting skills (grappling, chokes & throws). This class is aimed at those who want to attain good fitness levels, or who are interested in entering competitions.

Tai Chi Chuan

Teaches hand forms (set movement pieces) and weapons classes, with an emphasis on using traditional training methods (such as 'sticking hands' and 'silk reeling') that cultivate the balance, posture and sensitivity required by all manner of Tai Chi Kung Fu techniques.

Yoga

A gentle class, yoga attempts to balance mind and body via physical exercises, controlled breathing, and calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. It teaches poise, balance and strength, and improves the body's physical health and clears the mind.

Tai Chi - Chi Kung

Another gentle class, ideal for those who want to reduce stress and improve their general health. Chi Kung involves the coordination of different breathing patterns with various physical postures and motions of the body.

Historically, various forms of traditional Chi Kung are taught in conjunction with Chinese martial arts, and are especially prevalent in the 'advanced training' of what are known as the nei chia (internal martial arts), of which Tai Chi Chuan is a member.
